Borra Vineyards Fusion White

Borra Vineyards: White Fusion Label

FUSION White 2010

Lodi Appellation, Proprietary White Blend

Our Rhône Viognier fuses with a pinch of German Gewürztraminer to produce bright, tantalizing aromas of floral lemon, grapefruit and orange with a backbone of wet stone minerality, shifting to peach and white pepper as it warms from an ideal 55° serving temperature. Chock-full of concentrated cream of lemon, peach and walnut with a light brushing of lemongrass and spicy anisette on the finish. One of the few wines we know that can dance harmoniously with asparagus. Even better with a catch of fresh Shrimp Scampi. 150 cases produced.

Borra Vineyards Barbera

Borra Vineyards Old Vine Barbera Label

Old Vine Barbera 2008

Home Ranch Carrú Vineyard, Estate Bottled

Perhaps the last pure Barbera to be bottled from Steve Borra’s grandfather’s original vineyard in Lodi. We named our Barbera “Fiera del Bue Grasso” or “Fair of the Fat Ox”, after the main annual celebration of the wines, food, and cattle of his Piedmontese home town of Carru’. Loads of fascinating smoky tea and meaty leather blanket strawberry jam, raspberries and cherries. Our bordering Eucalyptus grove has had a definite influence in this alluring vintage, meeting up with soul-warming mint and buckets of pomegranates, sour plums and cherries, with some raspberry tea thrown in for good measure. An excellent side dish would be a “zesty, earthy risotto soaked in wine with shaved Parmigiano.” 170 cases produced.

Regular Price: $25.99

Borra Vineyards Merlot

Merlot “2:30 a.m.” 2008

Gill Creek Ranch

Our full-bodied, middle-of-the-night Merlot turns in a decidedly food-loving performance with a generous helping of red bell pepper and cedar scents along with cherry, red apple, black pepper and a swipe of pencil lead. Act I opens with rounded up-front sweet raspberry/sour cherry fruit flavors, supported by tart red apple skin from upstage. All transition through well-integrated bell pepper in Act II, before the curtain drops ever so gently on tobacco and a hint of Eucalyptus. An excellent partner with something romantic, like sautéed duck breasts with smoked tomato sauce. 118 cases produced.

Borra Vineyards Chardonnay

Borra Vineyards Chardonnay

Chardonnay 2010

Gill Creek Ranch, Clements Hills, Lodi Appellation

The 2010 growing season was one of the coolest in decades, ideally suited to making our Burgundy-style Chardonnay. Barrel-fermented with traditional stirring of the lees every 10 days brings a subtle butteryness with a kiss of French oak to our vineyard’s minerality and aromas of wild fruit along the lines of peach and baked apple. Very lively fresh tangerine and pineapple juice dance all the way through a long finish where you may almost sense savory sourdough. 112 cases produced.

Borra Vineyards Field Blend

Borra Vineyards Field Blend

Field Blend 2009

Lodi Appellation

Generations of winegrape farmers used to grow a mix of interspersed grape varieties in a field of vines then crush them all together on the same day, creating a “field blend” of beautiful garnet red. This band of grapes turns in a performance that is very lively, nimble – not heavy – and certainly not wimpy, with shifting bright fruit aromas of red currant, pomegranate, sarsaparilla, and a potpourri of jasmine, lavender, and roses, riding an intriguing muskiness. Dusty tannins support focused fruit flavors combining with good acidity to build perfect sweet-tartness. A touch of cedar and a nice creamy mocha Tiramisu sing on the finale. Very versatile with foods, especially great with tomato-based pasta dishes, many cheeses and may even substitute for a superb Pinot Noir. 156 cases produced.

Borra Vineyards Finesse

Borra Vineyards Finesse

Finesse 2009

Lodi Appellation

A decade ago, we thought we’d found the perfect spot for growing Lodi Cabernet, but we never quite nailed it… That is, until now. The secret lies in the coming together of a cool growing season and 40% Merlot to round out our new Bordeaux-style blend. “Finesse” is the name for this voluptuous, yet finely-balanced, seriously delicious beauty. She wears a perfume of raspberry dark chocolate truffle that undulates with black cherry and coffee, developing a savory Chinese spare rib meatiness as the evening progresses. Swallow zingy-spiced bright cherries baked into a scrumptious pie topped with black raspberries along with pinches of tea leaves and cigar, and you’ll be whisked off to ecstasy on a long stream of black licorice, cedar and cinnamon oil spices. 120 cases produced.

Intenso 2008

Lodi Appellation

From the sweet spot of our Gill Creek Ranch and our Home Ranch Vineyards we reserved a few special barrels that were more intensely concentrated than all the others. Smokey bacon, plum, strawberry jam, molasses and pepper aromas barely hint at the flavors to come. Probably the biggest, most textured, sauce-like wine we’ve ever produced. All elements are balanced on a huge level supported by mouth-coating – almost tingling – dusty tannins. Mountains of almost meaty black cherry, blackberry, and coffee, heaped atop river stone minerality create a flood of black pepper, dark chocolate, cherry and watermelon that lingers seemingly forever. A memorable experience that would nicely complement any hearty meat dish, perhaps even a flourless chocolate torte. 50% Syrah, 25% Petite Sirah, 25% Merlot. 96 cases produced.

Petite Sirah 2008

Lodi Appellation

We have a particular fondness for the jet-black, inky thick structure of Lodi Petite Sirah, because our 2008 bottling brings back memories of Europe with a subtle influence of enticing leathery earthiness that Bordeaux lovers would find particularly appealing. There are layers and layers of aromas and flavors woven into a tapestry of still-young chewy, chalky tannins, starting with scents of cherry-Rhubarb, bacon, cloves and fig, proceeding to blackberried plum with a little bing of cherry and cedar, and finishing long with spicy anise and cinnamon. Give this baby some age and you’ll be rewarded with silky smooth rose petals. 97 cases produced.
